about

52 - Every week, for one year to the same photobooth, 2013

Buckleys’ practice is rooted in notions of identity and self-presentation. A socially engaged exploration of people and the human condition; how identity is created, developed and performed within individual and social environments.

Documentary and inter-disciplinary in her approach, she utilises media including analogue photography, collage and installation with works often taking place over extended periods of time and involving the participation of others. The acts of collecting and archiving are recurring themes.

Through the utilisation of everyday objects and the creation of series of multiple works, Buckley generates opportunities where the viewer can simultaneously absorb and contrast the information gathered and create connections between themselves, their own experiences and that of others in the world around them.

In her work Buckley examines the juxtaposition of public and private and the point where personal and social histories meet. Her research interests lie in alternative portraiture and how persona and memory are archived, presented and recorded by individuals and in our collective historical archives.
